In March 2016, Sierra went on a trip to Nicaragua with a campus organization called Global Medical Brigades. While in Central America, Sierra had the privilege of serving underserved communities in Esteli, Nicaragua by working with doctors, dentists, and pharmacists to help provide quality healthcare to those in need. She also helped families gain access to clean drinking water by helping install pipelines for different communities.
Sierra is also a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta, a Pre - Health Honors Society, and was a part of the Women’s Leadership and Development Program her Spring Semester of 2016. Her involvement in different campus organizations and guidance from her professors and advisors has helped prepare her to apply for PA school next year. She is currently working as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and is applying for internships to finish out her senior year. Her advice for incoming students would be to never give up and to actively pursue your dreams by getting involved. Sierra believes that getting involved is the best way to grow and learn from past experiences in order to help prepare you for a successful future.
