In addition to the Merit Scholars Programs available to incoming freshmen, the Honors College offers several scholarships to continuing honors students. UNC Charlotte also offers hundreds of other scholarships for which honors students are excellent candidates.



Applicants must be incoming first-year students being considered for full-time enrollment at UNC Charlotte in a baccalaureate program offered by The William States Lees College of Engineering for the fall term immediately following high school graduation.  Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

  • Annual renewable scholarship, including tuition, fees, room and board
  • Membership in the University Honors Program
  • Up to $6,000 professional development allowance for an undergraduate summer research experience or internship.  Internships may be available based on mutual need and consent
  • Automatic acceptance into the Engineering Leadership Academy


Al Maisto Honors College Scholarship

This scholarship provides assistance to full-time, undergraduate honors students who exhibit exemplary academic performance, citizenship, and service to their honors program and/or the Honors College.  Award amount:  $1,000.


Alumni Association Scholarships

While not restricted to honors students, the Alumni Association Scholarships give preference to students in a honors program. 

These scholarships are awarded to UNC Charlotte undergraduate students who demonstrate exemplary school spirit through academic success, participation in University activities, campus leadership, and service to the University and/or the general community.

Criteria: Applicants must be full-time students currently enrolled at UNC Charlotte who meet the following requirements:

  • A strong record of on or off campus community service
  • Demonstrated campus leadership
  • An earned grade point average of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale
  • Participation in a UNC Charlotte honors program is desirable, but not required

Delbridge E. Narron Scholarship

This scholarship was established to recognize and support students pursuing study within the University Honors Program and/or disciplinary honors programs. Recipient must present evidence of character as demonstrated through his or her involvement in community service work or reasonably similar extracurricular activities; recipient must present evidence of a commitment to learning, an open mind, and an acceptance of diverse cultures, genders and sexual orientations. Applicants must be a student in the University Honors Program and/or a departmental honors program. Financial need may be taken into consideration but is not a criterion for eligibility. Students apply in the spring. Award amount: $2,000. Award is renewable, but student must re-apply. The pool of applicants will be full-time students currently enrolled in the University Honors Program and/or pursuing departmental honors.


Delbridge E. Narron Travel Scholarship

This fund supports travel outside the United States for the Delbridge E. Narron Scholarship recipient. In the event that Delbridge E. Narron Scholarship recipient does not plan to travel abroad, other rising junior or rising senior Honors students may be awarded these funds. Recipient is encouraged to enroll in a formal study abroad program where college credit is earned; this is not, however, a requirement for the use of these funds. Students apply in the spring. Award amount: $2,000.


Martin Scholars Program 

The Martin Scholarships are available to incoming freshmen, transfer students, and continuing students of any major who are Pell-eligible with zero expected family contribution. Martin Scholars must be members of an honors program or planning to join one. 

  • Average award of $3,000 per semester, based on unmet financial need
  • $3,000 stipend for study abroad or an internship
  • Support of a Martin Faculty mentor
