Mr. Arnold began teaching for the University Honors Program in 2006. His background is in Literature, Composition & Rhetoric, and his research interests extend to include community service, politics, and dystopian fiction. He teaches a variety of classes for the Honors College, including Freshman Honors Colloquium, Community Service, Citizenship & Service, and Honors Enrichment Seminar. Mr. Arnold especially enjoys working with Honors students on projects that touch the broader community, such as their establishment of a writing center in Nairobi, Kenya, and their recent work with local, marginalized communities in the Charlotte area.
Julie Doppel Hicks taught courses for the Honors College for over twenty years, including English, Freshman Honors Colloquium, Senior Seminar, Honors Enrichment Seminar, Film, and Liberal Studies courses about film and the arts. She did her graduate studies at UNC Charlotte in Literature, Composition & Rhetoric and also has a background in film studies. Of special interest to her are visual literacy in art and film and how social issues are portrayed through foreign films.
