Dr. Carolyn Ford (Faculty) and Jean Tarlton ( Coordinator of Admissions) will give a presentation and answer questions about the only pharmacy school in the Charlotte region. Questions about prerequisites, the PCAT, and extracurricular activities will be answered.

October 21: American Podiatric Medical Association
Dr. Kent Picklesimer, a board-certified foot and ankle podiatric surgeon, will present information on the field of podiatry, podiatric education, podiatric medicine and surgery, and residency training. He will include interesting case study slides of patients with an array of different medical and surgical conditions, and surgical treatments. Of interest to any student interested in medicine and/or surgery.

October 29: South Carolina College of Pharmacy
Dr. Bryan Ziegler, PharmD, MBA, will give a presentation on the SC College of Pharmacy. SCCOP has 2 campuses, USC in Columbia and MUSC in Charleston. Learn about prerequisites, the application process, special features of the PharmD program, and opportunities for residency training and beyond. Open Q&A following the presentation.

November 9: Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University
Dr. Jim Peden, the Associate Dean forAdmissions, will give a presentation on the Brody School of Medicine and then have an open Q&A session. Brody SOM is one of only 2 public medical schools in NC and accepts only NC residents.This is a great way to learn more about Brody and also about medical school admissions in general. Dr. Peden has years of experience as both faculty and member/dean of the admissions committee.

November 12: Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy (SC)
Presbyterian College (Clinton, SC) has established a new PharmD program; the first class will matriculate in 2010. The Director of Admissions, Erin Grogan, will present information about the prerequisites, admissions procedures, curriculum, and other features of the school.

November 12: UNC Science Enrichment Program (SEP)
Paula Borden, SEP Program Director, from UNC-Chapel Hill, will present on the well-known summer program. SEP is an 8-week academic enrichment program for underrepresented minorities and socioeconomically disadvantaged undergraduate students (rising sophomores and juniors). November 13: Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine
Bea Jones, Admissions Coordinator, will speak about the philosophy of osteopathic medicine and VCOM's medical school. VCOM has an innovative curriculum with emphasis on global healthcare, disaster medicine, and service to medically underserved areas. VCOM is affiliated with Virginia Tech.

Jordan Berry, from the Student Affairs and Admissions office of the School of Pharmacy, will be on campus to talk about Mercer's PharmD program and the combined PharmD/PhD optional program. Ms. Berry has a lot of experience in admissions and will share her wisdom with students.
